Smooth Stones
Water and sand have been part of my life since I was a child. As a youngster, the Pacific Ocean was my favorite beach. When we became land locked after moving to the Midwest, the lakes of Michigan became part of my life. I love beaches! Recently, I had fun searching for pebbles along the coast. The ones I found most fascinating were the flat, uniform ones that were worn smooth by the constant movement of the waves brushing them against the sand of the shore. They gradually were polished and shined and sharp edges were rounded. As I collected the rocks, I couldn't help thinking about how God does the same thing to us. The trials we go through in life slowly ebb away our imperfections and rough places are gradually smoothed and refined in us. God takes these difficulties and refines us just like the waves and sand along the shoreline do to the stones.
